Software Developer – Marine Systems & Vehicle Simulation

3D Research s.r.l.

We are looking for a technical profile (Computer Science or Mechanical/Robotics Engineering) with experience in Unity 3D to develop simulation environments for marine vehicles and missions. The goal is to build simulators supporting control software testing, sensor emulation, operator training, and validation. We appreciate candidates who enjoy working in an agile, multidisciplinary environment, where you may contribute across different parts of the simulation stack (physics, sensors, tooling, UX) and take ownership of tasks beyond the initial scope as the simulator grows.

Key responsibilities

• Develop simulators in Unity (C#): scenes, physics, interactions, mission UI
• Implement simplified-to-intermediate dynamics (forces, drag, buoyancy) and sensor simulation (camera, IMU, GNSS/USBL mocks, etc.)
• Integrate telemetry/middleware (ROS 2 bridge or custom APIs as needed)
• Build internal tools for scenario authoring and repeatable test setups
• Profile and optimize real-time performance

Required skills

• Experience with Unity and C# development
• Solid math/physics foundations for simulation (or strong willingness to implement models guided by the team)
• Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows
• Ability to translate technical requirements into iterative, testable implementations

Nice to have

• Robotics/simulation tools (Gazebo, Isaac, etc.)
• Rendering/shaders
• ROS2
• Networking
• Data logging

What we offer

• Simulation tooling with direct impact on testing and real-world deployments
